Cattery Update 2024

It is with much deliberation that I have decided to officially retire my Scottish Fold breeding program. This means I will no longer have Scottish Fold kittens available in the future.

Over the past 24 years, it has been both a privilege and a joy to work with this amazing breed. They have brought immeasurable happiness to our lives and will always hold a special place in my heart.

Please feel free to keep sending updates and pictures of your kittens—I always enjoy seeing how they are doing! And as always, don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or if there’s anything else I can assist you with.

Warm regards,
Suzanne Henne DVM

Molly, Macy, Tully

Suzanne,

Thank you so much for giving me such a sweet kitty. She is eating, drinking, and using the letterbox. She also loves being brushed. I am going to call her Molly.

I am sending you two pictures of Macy and Tully that we got from you about 18 or 19 years ago. Macy lived with us for 18 years, and Tully for 13 years. They were great cats.
You can be assured that Molly will be loved and get the best of care.

Thanks again,
Heather K

Toby, Harry, Ella

Hello Suzanne,

I saw your notice today that you are closing the Scottish Fold part of your cattery. When I saw the adult females come through as available recently, I suspected this outcome. I’m sorry to hear it as I was hoping for a perk eared kitten as our next cat (after Plantagenet dies; you bred him in 2009). The folded ear phenotype doesn’t speak to me, but I like the appearance otherwise, thus the perk eared desire.

I’m sure the British Shorthair side is keeping you plenty busy and fervently hope you do not have plans to cease breeding altogether. I am convinced you are the best at raising well socialized loving kittens.

If I may be so impertinent, I wonder if you have considered taking on another breed? If so, I’d like to respectfully suggest you have a look at the Selkirk Rex. At the time when we purchased ours (2008) the breed was still establishing and was incorporating other breeds into the mix. Our Selkirk’s father was a British Shorthair. Anyway, they are very winsome with the soft curly hair (ours was shorthaired) and there are previous few breeders it seems. We visited one in Washington State and it was a nightmare; plus she was breeding for (in my opinion) a singularly unattractive facial phenotype. I attach two photos of my cat, who was certainly not show quality, but we thought him very handsome indeed. Just friendly food for though for all your spare time 🤭😉

I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving and that you have a good Christmas season, personally and professionally!

Heather

Archie

I was sad to hear you were retiring from the Fold breeding, but I totally understand. We have so enjoyed both of our boys we have purchased from you…. They are wonderful cats, so friendly to everyone. Archie is much calmer than Bentley, but I hear red cats have a different personality. Bentley is a mama boy, never out of site and always into mischief. But he has learned that Kate is the princess of the house, and just stay clear of her….lol.
Thanks again for the opportunity of everyday enjoyment of the boys….
If I didn’t already have 3 cats, I would have loved to get one of the retired girls, they are beautiful.
Best wishes,
Kathy T

Juliet

Hi Suzanne…
I was sorry to hear that you will no longer be breeding Scottish Folds… and I thought I’d send a couple of pictures of Juliet (she will be 13 in April!) She is just the sweetest, cutest, funniest, best girl, and I couldn’t love her more.
Have a wonderful holiday season!

Bella and Boo

I’m so happy to get a fuzzy purrfect kitty I can barely stand it. 😆
It’s amazing how they wrap their paws around your heart. Little Nova, who answered to Boo was in quite a bit of arthritic pain when she reached 3 years old but we made a lot warm soft yet firm places for her to be right next to me at all times while Bella, had tiny ear canal in her right ear. We got that down to a science by ear washing every 8 to 10 days. She was in my lap 24/7. She slept on my gut and Boo on my head pillow. I wake up looking for them still!

I think I hear them calling when it’s the “fixed”, ferral cats that have claimed our backyard greenhouse and patio. I was blessed in being able to build a catio that I used the free, spare wood from our new neighborhood houses being built.
I tried to help her last litter by giving the best care you can give a fearful pregnant ferral cat.

Ty again for giving me the opportunity to see my option. Everyone is asking and I just say, don’t know yet while my heart 💔. I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving! Looking forward to seeing the soon to be my new family member!

Toby

Hello Suzanne,

Just a quick note to say Toby had his vaccines today per the schedule you recommended when we collected him.

He is doing very well; quite playful and energetic. Happily, he the older cat are getting along fine. Not bosom buddies (yet) but that may come—Toby is definitely making advances.

Updates!

Hello Suzanne,

Toby’s birthday is tomorrow and he weighs 9.8 pounds. He charms absolutely everyone he meets! He is still quite playful and fetch is a favorite game, especially after we turn out the lights at night 🙄🤣

I am sending a link to a short video I took today. Please feel free post on your website/instagram (or otherwise share) if it would be helpful to show potential customers how your kittens look as they get older (and how happy they are).

Boo and Jinks

Hi Susie,
Boo is now 10 pounds, the same size as Jinks!! I can’t believe she is that big as she was so small for so long.

Here’s a couple of recent photos of the two of them. Very different personalities but both are extremely lovable, cuddly, and cute. Boo is exceptionally smart, she picks up on things quickly then shows Jinks. Its really cute. As you can see, Jinks is tired from helping my daughter at her internship all day 🙂

They are both still on the Smalls brand cat food and doing great. That’s all they eat.

Thought you would want to know that both are well, but especially that Boo is one year out and doing great. Gandalf is doing well too, he rules the roost and Zisimos and Abbey exist to serve him.

Hope you are doing well. We always look at your kittens on the websites and on instagram.

Take care
Phyllis D.

Phoebe

She’s doing great! Started exploring yesterday, ate well, used the litter box, played, and had a good night of sleep. Up and at em this morning! Love how she sleeps on her back!
Thank you so much for her!

Lauren D.

Thank you for the update! She’s a precious little furball. Our fold is still very lonely, so we are especially excited for her arrival. I’ve included photos of her and her “older brother” (the lovely kitten my mom bought from you) for fun.

Best,
Lauren

Karma

Just wanted to give you an update that Karma is perfect! She’s adjusting so well. Playing and roaming around the house. She hasn’t hid once! Just like she’s always been a part of the family 🙂

Ozzy

Hello Doc!
Ozzy’s fitting in readily!! He’s respectful of the older cats & enjoys hanging out w/them!
BJ, our cocker spaniel, wants to engage in play w/him too. Vic & I are very pleased w/how well Ozzy’s adjusting to our home!!
